Overmoulding

Overmoulding provides extra protection for durability and resistance to a variety of environmental conditions that would otherwise affect the longevity of the cable.

There are typically three reasons for incorporating overmoulding into your design:

1. Cables that are going to be used by the public or clinical technicians usually require the connector to cable section to be overmoulded for grip and aesthetics.

2. Cables that are subject to frequent use, either connecting or disconnecting on a regular basis and require strain relief.

3. Wires that need to maintain an IP rating against moisture or a pressure vacuum to produce an IP rated seal.
